Additionally, 81% of brands use affiliate programs to increase brand awareness and generate sales, validating its effectiveness as a marketing tool.

Given these figures, it’s clear that affiliate marketing holds strong potential for those willing to put in the effort.

So, if you’re contemplating if affiliate marketing is still worth it, the answer is a resounding yes!

Why Choosing The Right Affiliate Marketing Niche Is Crucial for Success

Finding a profitable affiliate niche

Choosing the right niche is crucial because it sets the trajectory for your affiliate marketing journey.

Your selected niche directly influences the type of products you will endorse, and the target audience you’ll reach with your affiliate links, making it a pivotal decision.

In an ideal scenario, your chosen niche will have high demand and low competition. This balance allows you to tap into a hungry market without having to fight tooth and nail against competitors.

But how do you know what niche to choose? Often, it starts with your own interests or hobbies.

Leveraging a niche related to something you are passionate about makes your affiliate marketing efforts more enjoyable and your affiliate project more rewarding. This passion not only shines through in your marketing efforts but also helps you remain committed, especially during the tough times.

So, selecting a niche that aligns with your personal interests will likely muster a stronger commitment in you. This is key in an industry that requires constant learning and adaptation.

However, it’s essential to note that personal interest isn’t the only factor. You should validate your passion with market demand, profitability, and competition levels if you want your online business or affiliate project to be successful long-term.

Thorough research plays a significant role here.

Spending time researching lucrative niches that you can compete in is super-important. It helps you avoid the pitfalls of selecting a low-quality affiliate niche, an overly saturated market or one with minimal consumer interest, which can result in you just not making much money from your endeavour.

Most importantly, conducting thorough research will undoubtedly assist in formulating a more effective affiliate marketing strategy.

Why You Should Think About Your Interests & Expertise

Consider interests and expertise

Diving into your interests and areas of expertise is the first step in choosing a profitable niche and horning your affiliate marketing skills.

You may be a keen gardener, a seasoned tech-enthusiast, or an expert cake decorator – these interests can form the basis of your niche.

The reason is simple: readers flock to blogs, YouTube channels, and social influencers who exhibit a deep understanding and passion. It breeds trust, and trust is the linchpin in converting visitors into customers.

You run a blog about DIY home improvements and have garnered a loyal following due to your practical advice and in-depth tutorials. Aligning your affiliate products with this theme coherently enables you to endorse top-quality power tools or recommending an online course on home design. If it’s a product you’ve personally used and loved, even better. Your readers will appreciate the authenticity and the assurance that it comes recommended from an expert. This brings a ton of trust trust to your marketing, which is a key factor to success.

Your interests and expertise give you an edge. It’s not just about promoting products from potential affiliate partners, it’s about providing value to your readers within a niche you’re passionate about.

List Out Your Interests and Expertise

Start by grabbing a pen and paper, or opening a new document on your computer.

Now, think about what lights you up – what activities, topics or hobbies could you spend hours talking about or doing?

Write them all down.

These can range from your love for cooking, traveling, fitness, tech gadgets, fashion, to any other hobby or passion you might have. No affiliate niche idea is too big or too small at this stage.

Next, jot down your areas of expertise. These are subjects or fields where you have considerable knowledge or skills.

Maybe you’re a pro at coding, a certified yoga teacher, or an excellent home baker. Don’t overlook anything – even the smallest skill could offer potential.

Why is this step so important?

Simply put, this list is the foundation for your niche research. It’s much easier to promote products or services that align with your interests and expertise because you’re already familiar with the industry, understand the audience, and most importantly, ensure you genuinely enjoy the subject matter.

Remember, in the world of affiliate marketing, authenticity and passion shine through, driving trust and conversions. Your interests and expertise are your superpowers, leverage them wisely.

Consider Sub and Micro Niches

Sub and micro niches

Taking a step further in your research, don’t overlook the potential of sub-niches and micro-niches.

What’s a sub-niche, you ask?

Let’s say you’ve picked fitness as your main niche. A sub-niche could be yoga or weightlifting, and a micro-niche might be prenatal yoga or vegan bodybuilding.

These smaller categories within a broader niche cater to a more specific audience and offer a more focused approach to affiliate marketing.

The advantage of sub or micro niching?

They typically face less competition and have a highly engaged audience.

Choosing these niches for affiliate marketing not only makes it easier to rank for in search engines, but their audience often shows strong loyalty and high conversion rates.

By drilling down into sub-niches and micro-niches, you might just discover an untapped goldmine perfectly suited to your interests and expertise.

If you want some decent affiliate niche ideas to spark your creative thinking, then check out our article on 267 micro niche ideas here.

Niche Profitability – Factors To Consider

Monetization and profitability are critical factors when choosing an affiliate marketing niche.

First, ask yourself if there’s a “hungry” audience in this niche. Are there people willing and able to spend their disposable income on products or services that align with this niche?

If there’s evidence of spending, this is a good sign.

Next, investigate the types of products or services people buy within this niche. Are they physical products, digital products, courses, services, or something else? The more varied the product range, the greater your potential for diverse and flexible affiliate marketing opportunities.

The presence and variety of affiliate programs available is a key indicator of a niche’s potential. Are there high-ticket affiliate programs that offer excellent commission rates for single purchases?

What about recurring affiliate programs that provide regular income from repeat customer purchases?

Both options have their benefits and can significantly impact your earning potential.

Finally, research your potential competitors. Are there successful affiliates within this niche making substantial passive income?

This doesn’t just mean there’s money to be made—it also implies that the market hasn’t reached saturation. Don’t be discouraged by competition; instead, see it as validation of a profitable niche.

Remember, your chosen niche should not only ignite your passion but also hold the promise of monetary gain. Balancing these elements is key to your affiliate marketing success.

How To Identify Profitable Niches (Step-by-Step)

Identifying a profitable niche may seem daunting, but here’s a simple, actionable method to help.

Step 1

Begin with your list of interests and areas of expertise. Pick a few that you’re most passionate about, then use tools like Answer The Public to find out what people are searching for within those areas.

Look for search phrases with a significant number of monthly searches but low competition.

Step 2

Next, use Amazon to explore potential products. Check the best sellers list in categories relevant to your interests.

Are there products with a large number of positive reviews? This can indicate a healthy market.

Step 3

Next stop, social media. Check out popular influencers, pages, or groups within your chosen niches.

Observe the engagement level. High engagement suggests a passionate and active audience, a good sign of profitability.

Step 4

Lastly, consider using tools like SEMrush or Ahrefs to dig deeper into potential competition. Find the gaps where you can provide unique value. Look for affiliate keywords or topics with high traffic or high search volume but low competition.

Investigate Profitable Affiliate Programs In The Niche (Step-by-Step)

Now, let’s dive into finding profitable affiliate programs in your chosen niche. Here are some actionable steps to guide you:

Step 1

Start by using search engines like Google and Bing. Type the niche followed by “affiliate programs” (for example, “garden tools affiliate programs”) in the search bar.

Step 2

Visit the top-ranking affiliate sites and check out the details of their affiliate programs. Look at the commission structure (how much you earn per sale), the cost per click (CPC), and the average sale amount. Higher affiliate commission rates and average sales amount indicate more profitable programs.

Step 3

Evaluate the support provided to affiliates. Does the program offer promotional materials, training, or dedicated affiliate managers? These resources can make your marketing efforts more effective.

Step 4

Lastly, check the product quality and reputation. Look for products with positive reviews and high ratings. These tend to convert better and result in fewer returns or refund requests.

Bear in mind, a high-paying affiliate program is not always the best choice. Consider the potential for consistent sales, the reputation of the program, and the support offered to affiliates.

Research The Competition

Unearthing your competition is a vital step in finding your perfect affiliate niche.

Start by identifying the top players in your desired niche. Use Google to search for key phrases related to your niche and note the top-ranking affiliate websites or blogs. These are your direct competitors.

Also, visit YouTube and search for your niche topics. Look at the top channels in your niche. Check their followers, views, and most importantly, the products they’re endorsing.

On social media, search for related hashtags and note the influencers and businesses using them. If you’re considering paid ads, use tools like SpyFu to examine the strategies of competitors running successful ad campaigns.

What can you learn from them?

Subscribing to your competitors’ email lists to gauge their email marketing strategies is also a great method to find out what they’re up to. Study their content, frequency of emails, promotional strategies, and the products they’re recommending.

Bear in mind, the goal isn’t to replicate their strategy, but to understand what works, identify gaps, and find ways to differentiate yourself.

Don’t view competition as a roadblock. Instead, use it as a learning tool to help you carve your unique path in your chosen niche.

Overall, the most successful affiliates don’t few other affiliates in their space as ‘competition’. Instead, they view them as piers – people to connect with, learn from, and occasionally collaborate with.

Can You Identify Any Market Gaps?

Identifying market gaps in your chosen niche is like discovering untapped gold mines.

Market gaps represent areas where consumer needs are not being met or are under-serviced.

For instance, you might observe that while there’s a myriad of tech gadget reviews on blogs and YouTube, there’s a scarcity of comprehensive guides on using these gadgets.

This gap presents a unique and excellent opportunity for you to create in-depth, user-friendly guides, thus setting yourself apart.

Finding these market gaps involves proactive engagement and research. Connect with your target audience to understand their needs and frustrations.

Pay attention to new trends or popular products with limited reviews. Leverage Google and social media platforms to explore the existing content and gauge the current topics that are being addressed.

Your role as an affiliate marketer is to add value to your audience’s lives. When you identify a unique problem in your niche that hasn’t been adequately addressed, you’ve found your market gap.

Fill this gap with valuable content and you’ll not only stand out in your niche, but also attract a loyal audience that trusts and values your recommendations.

How Can You Add Value To The Niche?

Adding value to your chosen niche is what sets you apart and establishes you as a trusted, go-to resource. It’s how you turn casual visitors into loyal followers and eventually, buyers.

But how can you add unique value? Let’s break it down.

Start by understanding your audience’s needs and pain points. Dig into comments, forum discussions, and social media chatter within your niche.

What common questions or problems are they facing? Make a list.

Next, consider how your interests, skills, and expertise can help solve these problems or answer these questions.

Could you create a comprehensive guide or a step-by-step tutorial? Maybe you could provide unique insights, tips, or product reviews.

Additionally, consider how you can present your content in an engaging way. Could you incorporate videos, infographics, or podcasts to make your content more digestible and entertaining?

Super-important tip here: Remain consistent and responsive. Regularly produce high-quality content and engage with your audience.

Respond to comments and messages, and take their feedback seriously. This way, you’ll not only add value but also build strong, lasting relationships with your audience.

Remember, value is about making your audience’s life easier, better, or more enjoyable with your content.

Consider Your Primary Traffic Source

Choosing the right niche for your affiliate marketing business isn’t just about finding a profitable market or an area you’re passionate about. It’s also about considering your primary traffic source.

Are you planning to start a blog, build a YouTube channel, or leverage social media platforms? Your choice of traffic source can greatly influence the niche you should venture into.

For instance, if you’re starting a blog, certain niches like health or finance might be challenging to penetrate. These fall under the ‘Your Money Your Life’ (YMYL) category, which Google scrutinizes heavily for authority and credibility. Unless you have significant expertise in these fields, ranking on the first page of Google might be an uphill battle.

On the other hand, if you’re focusing on YouTube or Instagram, niches like beauty, fitness, or lifestyle can be more promising due to the visual nature of these platforms.

Aim to align your niche with your primary traffic source to boost your affiliate marketing revenue and chances of success. Keep this in mind during your research phase, and you’re one step closer to finding your perfect affiliate marketing niche!

Market demands and trends

Understanding market demands and trends is another important step to consider in niche research.

Think of it like this – you’re charting a map where trends highlight the path, and market demand shows you the treasure! By understanding what’s popular and sought-after in your chosen field, you can position your affiliate marketing to meet these needs.

Start by using online tools like Google Trends to examine the popularity of specific topics over time.

Look for steady or increasing interest, as this indicates sustainable demand.

Check out industry forums, blogs, and social media discussions for a pulse on current trends and consumer interests.

Notice any patterns or recurring topics? These could indicate emerging trends and untapped markets!

You could also visit a site like Flippa and browse the recently sold listings in the affiliate category to find out what’s already working.

Another great strategy is to keep an eye on newly released products or services in your niche. Are they creating a buzz? High demand for new products can present ripe affiliate marketing opportunities.

Aligning your affiliate niche idea with market demand and ongoing trends isn’t just smart – it’s profitable! By choosing a niche that’s not only of interest to you, but also to your potential audience, you’re setting yourself up for a win with your online business or affiliate project.

How Does Ad Revenue Work On YouTube?

Are you curious about how those snazzy YouTubers make money from their videos? Well, let me break it down for you!

First things first, creators must apply to join the YouTube Partner Program. Once they’re in, they can start monetizing their videos by displaying ads. This is a great way to earn passive income from your channel.

But wait, don’t get too excited yet!

To actually earn any money, creators need to have people watching their videos, so they better start brainstorming some ideas that’ll make the masses click.

Once creators have built up their viewership, they can start earning money from ads.

Advertisers bid on ad space through Google AdWords, and YouTube displays the highest bidder’s ad on the creator’s video. This means that the amount of money a creator can earn from ads varies, and it’s not a fixed rate. It depends on how much the advertiser is willing to pay for that specific ad.

So, if you’re a creator, how do you make the big bucks?

The short answer is by getting more people to watch your videos. The more views you get, the more potential there is for ad revenue.

But there are a few other factors that can come into play, like the length of the video and the viewer’s location.

And there you have it! Ad revenue on YouTube is a complex system that involves advertisers, creators, and viewers.

It’s not an exact science, but creators who put in the effort to create engaging content can reap the rewards.

Just remember, as with most things in life, there’s no magic formula for success.

YouTube ad revenue

What Is CPM and Why Is It Important

CPM stands for “cost per mille,” which translates to the cost per thousand views. CPM is an important metric for YouTube creators because it indicates how much revenue they can expect to earn from ads displayed on their videos.

YouTube pays creators a portion of the revenue generated by ads shown on their videos. The amount of revenue earned per ad depends on the CPM, which is calculated by taking the total revenue earned from ads and dividing it by the number of views the ads received.

A high CPM indicates that advertisers are willing to pay more to reach the audience watching a creator’s video. This can be influenced by a variety of factors, including the type of content, the audience demographics, and the location of the viewers.

For example, an advertiser might be willing to pay more to show an ad on a video about luxury cars to an audience in a high-income country than they would for a video about pet care in a lower-income country.

Creators can use the CPM metric to evaluate the effectiveness of their content and identify areas for improvement. A higher CPM can also indicate that a creator’s audience is highly engaged and valuable to advertisers, which can lead to more lucrative brand partnerships and sponsorships.

So, in a nutshell, you’ll be able to make more money with fewer views in a high CPM niche from YouTube ad revenue.

YouTube CPM

The Most Profitable YouTube Niches (by CPM)

Now, let’s get into the most profitable YouTube niches so we can make the most money possible on YouTube.

Finance Niche

The first niche on our list of most profitable YouTube niches is the Finance niche.

There are several reasons why  Finance is such a high CPM niche. Firstly, there are a TON of advertisers in this space who are looking to advertise on YouTube videos. This includes some of the top investing and finance companies in the industry, and we all know those guys have A LOT of money to spend on advertising!

Example Channels

Make Money Online Niche

The Make Money Online niche is next up on our most highly profitable niche on our list.

The reason why this niche is so profitable is that there is such a high demand for content within this niche, and there are also lots of advertisers with high margins willing to pay good money to put their ads on your YouTube videos.

Products in this space range from courses that help you to make money online, to software tools that you’ll need to build an online business and market your products.

Most of the advertisers in this niche either sell digital products (ie courses, ebooks, etc), or software, which means they have high margins in which to roll into advertising. This is because they don’t have the production and shipping costs that a company making and selling a physical product would have.

Example Channels

Technology Niche

The Technology niche is another one that’s highly profitable for YouTubers. This is because there are so many tech companies out there all vying for exposure on YouTube.

If you have a Tech YouTube Channel, then you’ll have advertisers like Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Facebook, to name just a few) who’d love to pay you to feature their ads on your videos.

Of course, those advertisers don’t pay you directly. You get paid through the YouTube Partner Program.

So, if you like the idea of making tech videos, and you want to start a Tech Channel on YouTube, then you can expect to make VERY good money from your YouTube ad revenue.

Example Channels

Health & Fitness Niche

When you think about how many different health products there are out there from supplements to weight loss products, exercise equipment, guides, courses, protein powders (etc), it’s no wonder that this popular niche is so profitable.

Some niche channels within the health niche can earn a higher CPM than others as there is such a wide variety of health-related topics out there. However, the health niche overall pays a very high CPM on YouTube, so this can be a very profitable niche for you to get into.

Example Channels

Investing Niche

Similar to the Finance niche, investing is also another highly profitable space to be in.

There are also a ton of advertisers paying very good money to advertise on investing-related YouTube channels.

Being an evergreen niche, people will always want to learn about investing, or get the inside scoop on the latest trends.

Example Channels

Travel Niche

The travel niche is a high CPM niche on YouTube because it is a lucrative industry with a wide range of potential advertisers.

Travel is a major global industry that generates billions of dollars in revenue each year, and advertisers in this industry are willing to pay a premium to reach audiences interested in travel-related content.

The travel niche tends to attract viewers who are interested in high-end, luxury experiences, which can lead to even higher ad rates.

Advertisers in the travel industry often promote luxury hotels, airlines, and travel packages, which can be expensive, and thus, their ads are generally more expensive as well.

Another benefit of the travel niche is that the type of content that YouTube influencers will create in this space often involves beautiful and visually appealing locations. This can, therefore, attract a wide audience and make travel videos more shareable. This increased engagement and virality can lead to higher ad revenue.

Example Channels

Legal Niche

There are loads of legal companies advertising on YouTube, which is one of the reasons why the Legal niche has high CPM rates.

Legal videos get a lot of views on YouTube since good quality content on various legal topics is in high demand.

If you have the expertise as a legal expert, then this popular niche could be great for you. However, bear in mind that this is one of the more competitive niches on YouTube, as you might expect.

Example Channels

Insurance Niche

There are lots of insurance companies out there offering all kinds of insurance-related products, including home, contents, health, life, and automotive insurance, to name just a few.

Insurance companies make a lot of money, and they’re willing to pay a handsome price to acquire new customers. Because of these facts, the insurance niche also has high CPR rates on YouTube.

If you have the knowledge and expertise, then creating educational videos in this niche can earn you good money from ads, not to mention all the additional money you can make by recommending the numerous affiliate programs in this niche.

Although you’re not likely to get as many views on your videos as some of the other profitable niches on this list, you should easily be able to make up for it in revenue to the high CPM and also the high-paying affiliate products in this space.

Example Channels

Beauty & Fashion Niche

Beauty and fashion are two more highly popular niches on YouTube. I’ve combined them here in this roundup since a lot of products in these niches can overlap.

Beauty and fashion attract a ton of attention on YouTube, and there are thousands of advertisers in this space with hefty budgets willing to pay a lot of advertising dollars to be featured on influencers’ videos that are relevant to their products.

Not only that, but it’s also very common for beauty and fashion brands to reach out to YouTube influencers to offer them a sponsorship deal. If you land a sponsorship gig with one or more brands, then they’ll pay you a monthly fee to recommend their products as well as send you a ton of free samples that you can use and showcase to your subscribers.

For example, if you like the idea of doing makeup tutorial videos, then you’ll definitely get brands reaching out to you as your channel grows.

So, if you want to start a channel in the beauty or fashion niche, then you stand to make really good money.

Example Channels

Digital Marketing Niche

I love the digital marketing niche because there are loads of sub-niches within this space that you can build a YouTube channel around.

For example, you can build a channel on affiliate marketing, eCommerce, dropshipping, lead generation, funnel building, WordPress, YouTube, etc, not to mention all the YouTube channel ideas related to marketing strategies for specific industries such as real estate, restaurants, dentists, and so on.

You can build a highly successful channel in this space and build an audience of loyal subscribers who will love to watch and recommend your videos.

Besides the many thousands of products you can recommend in this space to earn affiliate revenue, the YouTube ad revenue is also quite substantial too. You can earn a high CPM with not many subscribers, and also make 6-figures as an affiliate at the same time.

Example Channels

Real Estate Niche

Real estate is another one of the highest-paying YouTube niches out there. These channels produce all kinds of content from how to get started in real estate, how to find bargain purchases, how to set up a real estate LCC, etc.

This niche also has a lot of high paying affiliate products that you can promote alongside your videos.

In this space you’ll have a lot of local real estate companies as well as national corporations like Zillow.com Realtor.com paying to advertise on YouTube.

Example Channels

Cars Niche

The automotive industry is one of the biggest spenders on YouTube ads. Because of this, any channel related to cars is going to attract a very high CPM.

In this space you can start a channel on one particular brand, teach people how to make mechanical fixes, or you can review a lot of different types of brands and cars. You could even choose to specialize your channel on concept cars and supercars.

Example Channels

Movies Niche

Movie niche channels are very popular on YouTube, and these types of videos have a high chance to go viral very easily.

However, you need to be careful with the type of content you show here. If you’re building a Movie channel, then you need to pay extra close attention to the rules around copyright.

There are loads of movies and TV series coming out all the time, and the companies behind the movies always want to advertise to get the word out, and YouTube is the perfect place for them to do that.

Example Channels

Gaming Niche

The Gaming niche is another highly popular niche on YouTube, and is one that can earn you good money.

Gaming channels have a wide range of topics to choose from, so you don’t have to focus on just one game. You can build a channel around gaming news, game reviews, how-to videos for specific games, unboxing videos, and more.

The great thing about this niche is that there are loads of companies that want to advertise their products in the gaming space, so you can have a great CPM in this niche.

Example Channels

Fear not!

In this post, we’ll dive into the deep end of the pool and explore the hidden gems of the online marketing world – low competition niches!

These under-the-radar niches may not be as flashy as their popular counterparts, but they offer just as much, if not more potential for high earnings and success.

So grab your snorkel and fins, and let’s dive in!

What is a Niche and Why It’s Important To Pick One For Your Business

When it comes to starting a business, choosing a profitable niche with low competition can be like trying to find a needle in a haystack of opportunities. That is if you don’t know what you’re doing.

But just like a needle is vital for sewing, and a tractor is necessary for a farmer to make all those lovely haystacks, choosing and defining your niche is crucial for the success of your business.

A niche is a specific market or group of people that you will target with your products or services, it’s your business’s own little corner of the world. It’s where you can focus your efforts and stand out in a sea of competition. It’s like finding a diamond in a pile of coal.

Why is it important to pick a niche you might ask?

Well, for starters, it allows you to tailor your marketing efforts to a specific group of people, it helps you establish yourself as an expert in that field, and the more specific your niche, the less competition you’ll have to face. It’s like finding a hidden treasure in a vast ocean of possibilities.

In short, choosing a niche is like picking the perfect outfit for a job interview, it may take a bit of time to find the right fit, but once you do, you’ll stand out and make a lasting impression.

Why Focus on Low Competition Niches

Focusing on low competition niches can be a good strategy for small businesses and solopreneurs for several reasons:

  1. Easier to establish a foothold: With fewer competitors, it’s easier for a small business or solopreneur to establish a reputation and gain a foothold in the market.
  2. Cost-effective marketing: It’s less expensive to market to a niche market than to a broader market. With fewer competitors, it’s more likely that a small business or solopreneur will be able to get their message in front of their target audience at a lower cost.
  3. Greater potential for profit: Niche markets often have consumers who are willing to pay a premium for products or services that meet their specific needs. This means that there is greater potential for profit in a niche market than in a broader market.
  4. Greater flexibility: By focusing on a niche market, you have greater flexibility to experiment and innovate. They can also pivot more easily if they find that their product or service isn’t resonating with their target market.
  5. Greater customer loyalty: When you target a specific niche, they create a loyal customer base. Niche market customers tend to be more passionate about their interests, and they are more likely to remain loyal to the businesses that serve them well.

Focusing on low competition niches can be a good strategy for small businesses and solopreneurs because it allows them to establish a foothold in the market, market cost-effectively, increase the potential for profit, has greater flexibility, and build a loyal customer base.

How to Find Low Competition Niches That Are Profitable

Target for niche

Here are a few tips to get you started on finding profitable niches with low competition:

Use Keyword Research Tools

Keyword research tools are a great resource for identifying low competition niches. These tools help to identify the terms and phrases that people are searching for online and can provide insights into the level of competition for those keywords.

  1. Google Keyword Planner: This is a free tool provided by Google that allows users to research keywords and see how often they are searched for, as well as the level of competition for those keywords. It can also provide ideas for related keywords that may have less competition.
  2. SEMrush: This is a paid tool that allows users to research keywords and see the level of competition for those keywords, as well as the top-ranking websites for those keywords. It also provides information on the estimated cost per click for each keyword, which can be used to gauge the level of competition.
  3. Ahrefs: This is a paid tool that provides information on the search volume, CPC, and competition level for a keyword, as well as the top-ranking websites for that keyword. It also provides data on the backlinks and organic search traffic for a website, which can be used to gauge the level of competition.
  4. Keywords Everywhere: This is a paid tool that allows users to see search volume, CPC, and competition level for a keyword, as well as related keywords that may have less competition.

Use Google

Using Google search results is another great way to find lucrative niches that are not competitive.

Many people don’t realize that there can often be a gold mine of profitable niches with low competition staring them in the face when they search on Google.

By searching for keywords related to your products or services, you can get an idea of the level of competition for those keywords and the types of websites that are currently ranking for them.

Here are a few ways to use Google search results to find low competition niches:

  1. Analyze the search results: Look at the first page of the search results for a keyword. If the majority of the websites that are ranking are large, well-established brands, it’s likely that the competition is high. However, if the majority of the websites are smaller, less-established sites, it’s likely that the competition is lower.
  2. Check the domain authority: Check the domain authority (DA) of the websites that are ranking for a keyword. The higher the DA, the stronger the website, and the more competition there is likely to be. Websites with low DA scores can indicate low competition.
  3. Look for long-tail keywords: Long-tail keywords are more specific, longer phrases that are less likely to be targeted by large, well-established brands. By targeting long-tail keywords, you may be able to find niches with lower competition.
  4. Check the number of results: By searching the keyword and adding “site:” in front of the keyword and checking the number of results, you can have a rough idea of how many sites are targeting that keyword. The fewer the number of results, the less competition there is.

Google Suggest

Google suggest results

Google Suggest is a feature of Google Search that provides a list of suggested searches as a user types a query. It can be a useful tool to find low competition niches because it can give them ideas for long-tail keywords and phrases that they can target in their marketing efforts.

Here are a few ways to use Google Suggest to find low competition niches:

  1. Identify long-tail keywords: Google Suggest provides a list of suggested searches that are closely related to the query being typed. By looking at the suggestions, you can identify long-tail keywords and phrases that they can target, which can be less competitive than more general keywords.
  2. Look for specific queries: Google Suggest can also provide specific queries that people are searching for. By identifying specific queries, you can discover a specific problem or need to target that needs solving for your specific audience, which can lead to more effective marketing and a greater chance of success.
  3. Check related keywords: As you type in a keyword, Google Suggest will show you related keywords, this can help you to identify other niche topics that are related to the original keyword that you can explore.

Google Trends

Google Trends

Google Trends is a tool that allows users to see how often a particular search term is entered into Google over time.

Google Trends is often a go-to tool for businesses and entrepreneurs to find low competition niches because it can provide insights into the popularity and seasonality of a particular topic, as well as related topics that may have less competition.

Here are a few ways to use Google Trends to find low competition niches:

  1. Analyze the trend data: Google Trends provides data on how often a particular search term is entered into Google over time. By analyzing the trend data, you can often identify niches that are gaining popularity or are likely to be popular in the future, which can be a sign of a niche with lower competition.
  2. Look for related topics: Google Trends provides a list of related topics that are closely related to the query being searched. By looking at the related topics, businesses can identify niches that are related to their main topic but may have less competition.
  3. Check the regional data: Google Trends provides data on the popularity of a search term in different regions. Analyzing the regional data can help you identify niches that are popular in specific regions, which can be a sign of a niche with lower competition.

People Also Ask

People Also Ask

People Also Ask (PAA) is a feature that provides a list of related questions that people often ask when searching for a particular query.

People Also Ask can be a useful tool that many people use to find low competition niches because it can give them ideas for long-tail keywords and phrases that they can target in their marketing efforts, as well as provide insights into the specific queries that people are searching for.

Here are a few ways to use People Also Ask to find low competition niches:

  1. Identify long-tail keywords: PAA provides a list of related questions that are closely related to the query being searched. By looking at the questions, it can sometimes be possible to identify long-tail keywords and phrases that they can target, which can be less competitive than more general keywords.
  2. Look for specific queries: PAA can also provide specific queries that people are searching for. By identifying specific queries, you might be able to find a specific problem or need to target and then sell to your audience. This can lead to more effective marketing and a greater chance of success.
  3. Check related keywords: By clicking on the questions in PAA, you can see other related questions that people also ask, this can help you to identify other niche topics that are related to the original keyword that you can explore.

Trending Topics on Twitter

Using Twitter to find trending topics is another useful way to identify low competition niches.

By looking at the topics that are currently popular on the platform, they can get an idea of what people are interested in and what topics have a high level of engagement.

Here are a few ways to use Twitter trending topics to find low competition niches:

  1. Identify popular topics: Twitter’s trending topics feature highlights the most popular topics on the platform at any given time. By looking at these trending topics, you might be able to identify popular topics that they can target in their marketing efforts.
  2. Check for niche topics: By searching for trending topics related to your niche, can sometimes find gems hiding in plain sight in the way of niche topics that may have less competition. These niche topics can be identified by searching for hashtags related to the niche and seeing which topics are trending.
  3. Analyze engagement levels: Looking at the engagement levels of tweets related to trending topics can help you to identify niches that have high interest but low competition.
  4. Identify target audience: Taking a peak at the demographics of the people who are talking about trending topics can often help you to identify niches that are popular among a target audience.

Use Quora

Quora is a question-and-answer platform where people can ask and answer questions on a wide variety of topics.

Quora can be a useful tool to use to find low competition niches because it can provide insights into the specific queries that people are searching for, as well as provide an idea of the level of interest in a particular niche.

Here are a few ways to use Quora to find low competition niches:

  1. Analyze popular questions: By looking at the questions that are being asked on Quora, you can sometimes identify popular topics to target. You can then also dig deeper to see if there are any more related questions that can help you to carve out your niche.
  2. Look for niche questions: By searching for questions specifically related to a niche topic, you can find further sub-niche topics that may have less competition. These sub-niche topics can often be revealed by searching for specific keywords or looking at popular questions that have a lot of answers. If you then cross-=reference this topic in Google and you find that there are not many big websites covering this topic, then you may be onto a winner.
  3. Analyze engagement levels: By looking at the engagement levels of the questions and answers, you can get an idea of how popular the niche is.
  4. Identify target audience: Looking at the demographics of the people who are answering the questions will give you an idea of who in particular the topic is of interest to, and how profitable the niche might be for you.

Search Best Selling Products on Online Marketplaces

Amazon marketplace

Searching for best-selling products on online marketplaces is another useful way to uncover profitable, low competition niches.

Online marketplaces, such as Amazon, eBay, and Etsy, provide a wealth of data on what products are popular and in demand.

Here are a few ways to use online marketplaces to find low competition niches:

  1. Analyze best-selling products: By looking at the best-selling products on online marketplaces, you can get a clear idea of what niches are currently in demand. Checking the sales rank of various products, as well as reviews, and ratings will help you to gauge the competition level.
  2. Look for niche products: By searching for niche products within a category, you can sometimes find overlooked niche topics that may have less competition. These small sub-niches can sometimes be a gold mine, so don’t dismiss them without further research.
  3. Check the competition: Looking at the number of sellers and the price range of similar products can give you an idea if you’re looking at a low-competition niche that you can compete in easily.
  4. Identify target audience: By looking at the demographics of the customers who are buying the product, you can get an idea of whether the niche will be a profitable one.

Using Domain Auctions

Using domain auctions is another very useful strategy to find niches that have low competition.

Domain auctions are platforms where expired or unused domain names are sold to the highest bidder. By analyzing the expired domain names, or those that are listed for sale, it’s sometimes possible to get an idea of the level of interest and competition in a particular niche.

Here are a few ways to use domain auctions to find low competition niches:

  1. Analyze expired domains: By analyzing expired domains, you can identify niches that have been abandoned by previous owners. These niches may be less competitive because the previous owner wasn’t able to make a success of it.
  2. Look for niche domains: By searching for niche-specific domain names, you may have some luck in finding niche topics that may have less competition. These niches can be identified by searching for specific keywords or looking at the domain extensions.
  3. Check the backlinks: By checking the backlinks of expired or unused domains, you can identify niches that have a high level of interest but low competition.
  4. Identify target audience: By looking at the demographics of the previous owner or the audience the domain was targeting, you can identify niches that are popular among their target audience.

I’ve personally used this method myself effectively more than once, and I highly recommend you give it a go.

Search Online Marketplaces Where Websites Are Sold (ie Flippa & Empire Flippers)

Flippa marketplace

Online marketplaces where websites are sold are great platforms to search for low competition niches.

These marketplaces provide a wealth of data on what types of websites are popular and in demand, and more importantly, how much money these sites are making!

By scouring platforms like flippa.com and empireflippers.com, you can browse websites that are for sale, and make a note of any obscure, rare, and interesting niches that you see.

What I particularly love about this method is that a lot of the website listings (but not all) will also tell you how much money the site is making per month. This will basically tell you if the niche that you’re looking at will also be a profitable one for you.

5 Top Low Competition Niches That Are Profitable

Three are lots of good, low competition niches out there, you just need to take some time and do your research to find them.

However, here are 5 great profitable niches with low competition that you can get started with right away if they appeal to you.

The Weighted Blanket Niche

The weighted blanket niche can be a great opportunity for an affiliate marketing business. As the popularity of weighted blankets continues to grow, more and more consumers are searching for information and reviews about these products before making a purchase.

As an affiliate marketer, you can take advantage of this by creating content that educates and informs potential customers about the benefits of weighted blankets and the different options available on the market.

One approach to promoting weighted blankets as an affiliate marketer would be to create in-depth reviews of different products, highlighting the pros and cons of each.

You could also create comparison guides that help consumers understand the differences between different types of weighted blankets, such as those filled with glass beads versus plastic pellets.

Another approach would be to create content that addresses specific concerns or questions that consumers may have about weighted blankets.

For example, you could create articles on how weighted blankets can help with anxiety or insomnia, or how to choose the right weight and size of blanket for an individual.

You can also target specific demographics such as parents, seniors, or people with special needs, and create content that addresses the concerns of these groups.

Electromagnetic Sensitivity

The electromagnetic sensitivity niche is a growing area of concern for many people, as the increasing use of electronic devices and wireless technology has led to increased exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs).

These fields are emitted by a wide range of devices and sources, including cell phones, Wi-Fi routers, power lines, and even appliances.

Some people have reported experiencing symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, and sleep disturbances as a result of exposure to EMFs.

As an affiliate marketer, there are a few different ways you could approach the EMF niche.

One approach would be to focus on providing information and resources on how to reduce exposure to EMFs. This could include articles and guides on how to choose and use EMF-protective products such as radiation shields for cell phones, or EMF-blocking clothing and bedding.

Building an email list in this niche will be an excellent way to build rapport with your audience and recommend products.

You could also niche down and target specific demographics such as parents, pregnant women, or people with chronic illness, and create content that is helpful to these groups.

Blue Light Blocking Devices

The blue light-blocking niche is attracting more and more attention each year, as the use of electronic devices such as smartphones, laptops, and tablets have increased dramatically in recent years.

Blue light, which is a type of light that is emitted by these devices, has been linked to a variety of health concerns, including insomnia, headaches, problems concentrating, and eye strain.

As an affiliate marketer, there are a few different ways you could approach the blue light-blocking niche.

One idea is to focus on providing information and resources on the effects of blue light on health and sleep, and how to reduce exposure to it.

This could include articles, YouTube videos, and guides on how to use the night shift mode on smartphones and tablets, as well as other DIY ways to protect yourself from blue light exposure.

Then, of course, you can then start to recommend products to your audience such as blue light-blocking glasses, blue and green light-free bulbs, blue light shields, and other gadgets that have been proven to block blue light.

You could also target specific demographics such as students, office workers, or people who spend long hours in front of screens and create content that addresses the concerns of these groups.

NFTs

The NFT (non-fungible token) niche has been rapidly growing over the last couple of years. While there is still not much competition in this niche at the moment, I have a hunch that in a few years’ time the NFT niche will be a highly competitive one.

So, that’s all the more reason to get in now and establish yourself as an authority before the rest of the world does too!

As more and more artists and creators have started using blockchain technology to create and sell unique digital assets, such as digital art, music, videos, and even tweets, there’s a huge new opportunity here.

As an affiliate marketer, there are a few different ways you could approach the NFT niche.

One approach would be to focus on providing information and resources on how NFTs work and how to buy, sell or create them. This could include articles, guides, videos, and a private members area to show how to navigate various NFT marketplaces, how to create your own NFTs, or how to evaluate the value of NFTs.

Another approach would be to promote NFT marketplaces and platforms that allow buying and selling of NFTs. You can also promote NFT wallets that can be used to store and manage NFTs.

You could also target specific demographics such as artists, gamers, collectors, or investors, and create content that addresses the concerns of these groups.

Van Life

The Van Life niche is a growing trend that involves living in a van or other type of recreational vehicle (RV) and traveling to different locations.

Many people who adopt this lifestyle choice to live in vans or RVs in order to have more freedom and flexibility, as well as to experience the outdoors and live closer to nature.

As an affiliate marketer, there are a few different ways you could approach the Van Life niche.

One approach would be to focus on providing information and resources on how to convert a van or RV into a livable space, including guides on how to choose the right van or RV, how to plan and design the interior, and how to install electrical, plumbing, and other systems.

There are lots of products to promote in this niche, some of which are high-ticket products. Some great ideas include things like solar panels, generators, portable toilets, RV mattresses, and other gear and equipment used for van life. and, of course, don’t forget that you can also sign up with an RV company and promote RVs to your audience too for really big commissions!

You could also target specific demographics such as retirees, digital nomads, or families with children, and create content that addresses the concerns of these groups.

Low Competition Niches – My Final Thoughts

Low competition niches are the secret weapon of the savvy entrepreneur. By taking the time to research and identify these hidden gems, you’ll be able to tap into untapped markets and reap the rewards of less competition.

So, don’t be afraid to think outside the box and look for those low-hanging fruits, because sometimes, the road less traveled leads to the sweetest success.

If you’re new to blogging, then you may be getting hung up on niche selection.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone. It’s actually very important to get this right before you start, even before you buy your domain name.

One of the biggest mistakes newbies make is rushing this step only to find a few weeks or months later that they’ve chosen a niche that is too competitive, makes little-to-no money, or just doesn’t hold enough interest for them.

By choosing a micro niche for blogging, you make the process a whole lot easier on yourself, and you cut out a ton of the competition before you start.

Here in this article, I’m going to tell you what you need to know to choose a good micro niche, and give you a huge list of micro niche ideas for blogging to get you started.

Let’s dive in!

What Is a Micro Niche?

A micro niche is a highly specific business category that provides a laser-focused offering to its target audience and customer.

Micro niches are also sometimes referred to as sub-niches. Basically, a micro-niche, or sub-niche, drills down from large top-level niches that are very broad.

An example of a top-level niche (broad niches) would be ‘Finance’. Finance is a huge topic with many sub-topics. A few examples include debt consolidation, asset management, investing, financial freedom, saving money, etc. Each of these can be considered a micro-niche of the finance niche.

What Is a Micro Niche Blog?

A micro-niche blog is a blog that is entirely focused on the sub-niche you have selected from the top-level niche category.

Indeed, there will likely be multiple categories for you to write about within your micro-niche. However, the entire blog will be focused on serving the people who are interested in this particular topic.

A micro-niche blog is a great way to get started when it comes to blogging. However, if the micro-niche is very small, then you may find you run out of blog post ideas at some point.

To prevent this from happening, choose a domain name that is related to your micro-niche blog idea, but is still broad enough that you can expand into a new sub-niche later. Consider the top-level niche you’re working in when choosing a name for your blog.

Why Choose a Micro Niche For Blogging?

When it comes to blogging, it can be very helpful to choose a micro-niche for a number of reasons.

Let’s take the finance niche as an example again.

So, if you wanted to start a finance blog and decide to cover anything and everything related to finance then you’re gonna get lost in the crowd. It’s a highly competitive space with a number of big players in the game like NerdWallet, ThePennyHoarder, and TheMotleyFool, to name just a few.

Going head-to-head with these guys just won’t be possible, unless you’ve got a huge budget behind you. And even then, as a new blog, you’ve still got a lot of catching up to do.

So, the answer for you to be able to compete and still get traffic is to drill down as much as possible on a micro-niche. This way your blog can become super-relevant for your ultra-specific category.

And when it comes to ranking in search engines, relevance plays a big part.

There may be bigger sites in your niche that are more authoritative than you, but if Google perceives your site to be more relevant for a specific topic, then they’ll give you enough credit to outrank the big guys for your key terms.

Defining your micro-niche will also make it easier for you to find good long-tail keywords to rank for, think of content ideas, and speak to your target audience.

Pros and Cons of Micro Niche Blogs

While there are a lot of advantages to building a micro-niche blog to gain organic search traffic, this strategy does also have some drawbacks too.

Here are the pros and cons of choosing a micro niche for blogging.

Pros of Micro Niche Blogs

  • Easier to build your target audience
  • Your conversion rates can be better since your audience is super-specific
  • You can grow your blog more quickly
  • You have more chance of standing out
  • You can build more topical relevance for your target keywords
  • You can outrank big sites for certain keywords once Google perceives your site is more relevant to the topic
  • Easier to think of blog post ideas

Cons of Micro Niche Blogs

  • There will be a ceiling to how much traffic, and therefore, the money you can make with your blog
  • You might run out of content ideas
  • Not as easy to expand beyond your chosen sub niche topic

How To Find Micro Niche Blog Ideas

I’m going to share lots of micro niche topic ideas in this article. However, if you want to expand beyond this list, then here are several ways to find good blogging niche ideas at a micro level.

Check Lists From Other Bloggers

You probably found this article by searching for micro niche ideas in Google or one of the other search engines. Although I’m going to cover a ton of niche ideas in this article for you, you may also want to go and check what other bloggers have listed too.

There are just so many niche ideas, chances are I might miss a few.

Use Amazon

Amazon has a huge database of products and actually has its own search engine. You can go to the Amazon marketplace and dig through the categories they have listed.

I also recommend checking which products are selling best on Amazon to give you an idea of the niche that has a hungry buying audience. This is a great way to tell if there’s money to be made in a niche.

Check The Big Sites

If you know the top-level niche you’d like to work in but you’re struggling to find your sub niche, take a look at some of the big sites in your market.

The big players usually cover multiple sub niches, and an easy way to identify them is to look at the categories they cover. Often, each of the categories is sub niches by themselves, some of which can be highly lucrative.

So, it might be worth your while to build a new niche site around just one of the categories covered on one of these monster blogs.

Check Affiliate Marketplaces

There are lots of affiliate marketplaces out there such as ClickBank, Commission Junction, ShareASale, and FlexOffers, to name just a few. Each of these platforms has a huge database of affiliate products organized by category.

Just one of these categories can be a gold mine for you, and it’s a great way to look for affiliate programs you can promote on your blog at the same time!

This is one of my favorite ways to find micro niches.

What Are The Most Profitable Blog Niche Ideas?

While you should be able to make money in the niches listed above, some of them may only earn you a small amount of money each month with Google AdSense.

Having said that, there are some niches on this list that are so lucrative they have the potential to earn you life-changing passive income.

Generally, some of the most lucrative niches can be found under the following categories:

  • Wealth and Personal Finance
  • Business and Marketing
  • Beauty
  • Health
  • Technology

That’s not to say you can’t make great money in some of the other niches on this list.

You absolutely can.

In fact, there are some affiliates out there who earn 6-figures per month in unlikely niches such as the astrology and numerology space!

If you want to know more about the most lucrative options, see my article on profitable blog niches.

How To Start a Micro Niche Blog

The first step to starting a micro niche blog is to choose a niche. You can broaden your niche later as long as you haven’t restricted yourself too much by the domain name you have chosen.

The next step is to do extensive keyword research and plan out your content strategy. You can use a tool like ahrefs.com to analyze the competitors in your space, and download lists of keywords they are ranking for.

Then, organize your keywords into relevant article topic ideas. Make a list of at least 50 blog posts you plan to write and assign the relevant keywords to each post so you know ahead of time exactly what you’re going to write about.

Additionally, bloggers use writing tools to make sure they complete their content on time. In this situation, a paragraph writer helps come up with ideas and makes writing easier, making it faster to create content.

Then, organize each of these first 50 articles into the various sub-categories that you plan to cover on your blog. When it comes to writing, start with just one sub-category first (also known as a hub), and publish all those articles first before moving on to the articles in the next sub-category.

Wait. I’m getting ahead of myself.

Before you begin writing, after you have done your keyword research and planned your content, you need to choose a domain name.

I recommend you use Namecheap to buy your domain name.

Namecheap is one of the most trusted domain name registrars, and you can pick up your domain for as low as $0.99 through this link.

Choosing a domain name that is related to your top-level niche and also covers your micro niche (but does not define the micro niche) will give you room to expand beyond your micro niche a year or so down the line.

This is important in case you run out of content ideas for your micro niche. If you have followed this step, you will be able to continue to build your blog into other topics later.

Next, you need to buy an affordable hosting plan and upload WordPress as your content management system.

If you’re just getting started, I recommend you use ChemiCloud for your WordPress hosting. They are an affordable cloud-based hosting company with fast servers and excellent customer support in case you get stuck.

I have used ChemiCloud for a few micro niche site projects and have always been impressed with their service, especially at the low prices they charge.

You can get up to 65% discount on ChemiCloud hosting here.

Now you’re ready to start writing and publishing your content.

If this is your first time building a blog, read my article on the best affiliate programs for beginners to get started. Here you’ll find several great networks you can join for free to find good affiliate products to promote on your blog.

Lastly, I highly recommend you take a course that covers blogging, SEO, and affiliate marketing in depth.

If you take blogging seriously, then it has the potential to change your life financially if you know what you are doing.

Matt Diggity is one of the world’s affiliate marketers, making the bulk of his income through his portfolio of niche content sites. His specialty is affiliate SEO, which means he teaches you how to do the following things:

  • Identify highly profitable niches
  • Build your website
  • SEO ninja techniques to rank number 1 in Google
  • Monetize with highly profitable affiliate offers
  • Automate and outsource your business
  • Manage multiple successful websites that make money

Matt’s course is called The Affiliate Lab, and you can get a $200 discount if you sign up here.

While you should be able to make money in any of the above categories, not every blogging niche listed above will be a high earner for you.

Defining your blog niche is a crucial first step as it will help you to craft your content and build your brand.

If making money online is your goal, then you’ll want to know which are the most profitable blog niches before you start.

Unfortunately, not all blog niches make money, so it’s important to choose your niche carefully if you want to turn your site into a profitable online business.

Here are 9 of the most profitable blog niches you can start right now.

Can You Really Make Money Blogging?

If you’re wondering if you can really make money blogging, the answer is yes, provided you choose a profitable niche.

If you want to start making money from home, then blogging is one of the best ways to do it. It’s not easy, but if you follow some basic rules, you can earn very decent money blogging from home.

One of the most appealing sides to blogging is the ability to earn passive income. Once your blog posts rank in search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing, they will attract your target audience on autopilot.

The most common way to monetize a blog is through placing affiliate links in articles. However, there are several other ways to monetize your blog besides affiliate marketing.

Some alternative methods include creating your own digital products such as eBooks and courses, sourcing and selling physical products, and using ad networks like Google AdSense, Ezoic, AdThrive, and MediaVine.

Choosing Your Blogging Niche – Things To Consider

Many people make the mistake of either choosing a niche that is too competitive for them, or they pick a topic that they just don’t have enough interest in.

While it can be an attractive idea to start a blog in say, the investing niche (since it’s so highly profitable), if your interest in the subject is limited, then your blog will likely flop.

When you first get started, there are a few important things you should consider before you take the plunge.

So, it, of course, makes sense to pick a niche that you have at the very least enough interest in it to learn more about it as you build your blog.

You also need to consider the size of the niche.

If it’s too broad, then you’ll get lost in the crowd and it will be too hard to compete. For example, ‘finance’ is a huge topic with many sub-categories. In order to gain traction, you’ll need to choose a sub-niche.

I advise continuing to drill down on your niche until you can clearly define a smaller target audience, known as a micro-niche. This is one important way you’ll stand out from the crowd.

Here’s an example of how this looks:

  1. Top-level niche: Finance
  2. Sub-niche: Saving money
  3. Micro-niche: Saving money tips for first-time homebuyers

Doing this process will help you to clearly define your target market. Not only will this make it easier for you to think of blog post ideas, but you will stand a higher chance of monetizing your audience later on since you’ll be able to speak directly to their needs, wants, desires, and pain points.

You should also think carefully about whether you want to blog anonymously, or if you’re happy to be the face of your blog. While you can blog anonymously, I recommend the latter wherever possible. This is because it will be easier for you to build trust with your audience.

Secondly, if you are the face of your blog, then you will also find the outreach process easier once you come to the stage of building collaborative connections with other bloggers in your space.

Also, make sure your micro-niche is part of an evergreen niche, which is a niche that will always generate interest, regardless of what else changes in the world.

Some evergreen niche examples include health, wealth, relationships, self-help, technology, recreation.

Why Picking a Blog Niche Matters

The most important thing you can do when starting out is to pick a niche that interests you. If you don’t like what you’re doing, it’s going to show in your writing. And if you don’t enjoy what you’re writing, readers aren’t going to stick around long enough to read it.

It’s also worth noting that picking a niche doesn’t mean you’ll never branch out into something else. You might feel inspired by a particular niche, and decide to write about it. But you shouldn’t limit yourself to one topic forever.

This is why the domain name you pick for your niche is such an important consideration. If you include the sub-niche topic in your domain name, then it’ll be very difficult for you to expand out into other topics through your blog content.

Instead, choose a domain name that is broad enough for you to branch out into multiple categories in the future as you grow.

For example, I chose the domain name entrepreneurnut.com for this blog. Ultimately, my main interest is entrepreneurism, and I have several interests within this larger category. However, entrepreneurism is a huge topic by itself. So, I chose to first blog about the sub-category of affiliate marketing, since that is the topic I know the most about in this category.

In time, as my site grows I plan to start new categories on this site on topics such as eCommerce, Dropshipping, digital product creation, etc.

So, choose a domain name that is relevant to your primary sub-niche, but doesn’t restrict you from covering other topics in your broader niche category later if you want to expand your blog.

The Most Profitable Blog Niche Ideas

Here is my list of the 9 most profitable blogging niches you can start right now.

The Personal Finance Niche

finance niche

It’s no secret that personal finance blogs are among some of the most profitable on the internet. There’s a lot of scope to sub-niche in this space to further define your target audience.

For example, you might decide to center your blog around saving money, financial independence, credit repair, frugal living, or hacks for acquiring student loans.

Alternatively, if investing is your thing, then you may want to start a blog in the investing niche, or even on a particular sub-section of the stock market.

There are lots of high-paying affiliate offers in the personal finance niche, so once the search engines start sending you blog traffic, you shouldn’t have too much trouble making money if your content is good.

The Business and Digital Marketing Niche

business and marketing

The business and digital marketing niche is another highly profitable space to be in.

There are lots of opportunities to specialize and stand out from the crowd here. Not only that but new opportunities are being created on almost a daily basis.

For example, AI writing tools is a fairly new niche that emerged in 2020/2021 and looks like it’s here to stay. So, ‘AI tech for businesses’ is a great emerging micro-niche that you can jump on if it interests you.

Another example of this is the ‘sales funnels’ niche. Sales funnels have been used for decades, even before the internet emerged. However, the ClickFunnels company created so much hype around sales funnels during and after their launch in 2014 that many blogging newbies build blogs all around the concept of sales funnels.

Other lucrative blog micro niche ideas in this space include eCommerce growth hacks, dropshipping, Amazon FBA, MLM online, affiliate marketing on YouTube, etc.

The Beauty and Fashion Niche

beauty niche

The beauty industry generates over $500 billion per year globally. It’s a huge, growing market, which means it has plenty of room for new entrants.

If you want to start a blog about makeup, skincare, haircare, nail art, skin treatments, fashion, or any other related topic, then this could be a highly lucrative business idea for you.

Once you’ve defined your blog niche, you’ll need to do some research into the best products to sell. Don’t be scared of the competition, as they can be your greatest guide in helping you find what’s selling well.

Spend time researching competitors in your market and list their blogs, YouTube Channels, Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok accounts. Then, list which products each one is promoting, and make a note of the URL to sign up for the product’s affiliate program in case you want to do the same later.

Then, look at your list and take note of the commonly promoted products between your competitors. Start with these ones, as they will be more likely to convert.

Beauty and fashion bloggers often put a lot of time into their social media marketing.

Platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Pinterest work extremely well for them due to the highly visual nature of this niche. So you should also follow suit if you want to compete in this space.

The Personal Development Niche

personal development

The personal development niche has become increasingly popular in recent years and is said to reach $56.66 billion USD by 2027.

It’s one of the most lucrative blogging niches out there because people are willing to pay for information they can use to improve their lives.

So if you’re looking to create a blog where you share valuable content that helps others achieve their goals, then this is the perfect opportunity for you. Just be clear on exactly what you want to help people with.

You can also provide tips on how to get started with certain tasks, such as learning a language, being more productive, breaking a particular habit, or improving relationships. The possibilities are endless.

There are also lots of highly credible people in this space who have products you can promote as an affiliate. Some examples of people to check out are Tony Robbins, Bob Proctor, Tim Ferriss, Brendan Burchard, Gabrielle Bernstein, and Brain Tracey.

Not all of them will have affiliate programs. But if you start digging into what they offer, you’ll soon find some good affiliate products you can promote, either theirs or someone else’s.

You’ll also gain valuable insight into the kinds of products they sell, and how they make them available for people to purchase. This will stand you in good stead later if you choose to create your own digital products.

The Health and Wellness Niche

Health and wellness

The health and wellness niche is one of the most popular areas within the blogging world. It covers everything from nutrition to weight loss, to medical topics.

A word of warning here, the health niche is extremely competitive, and search engines like Google want to see a high level of credibility behind a blog in terms of bonafide credentials, especially if you’re blogging about medical topics.

Without this, your site just won’t rank.

This also goes for the finance niche too. Google has a policy known as ‘YMYL’, which stands for, Your Money, Your Life. If your blog has the potential to impact someone’s money (ie finances), or their life (ie health), then Google won’t rank your site if they think you’re about as credible as Dr. Nick from the Simpsons.

If you want to blog anonymously, then this niche is also out for you if you hope to gain any sizeable search engine traffic and build trust with your audience.

Having said that, if you’re the right person to break into this niche, then it can be lucrative. It will take some time for you to gain search engine traffic in this space, so it’s also worth leveraging social media as your blog grows, especially in the early days.

The Fitness Niche

Fitness niche

The fitness niche makes a lot of money because it’s one of the most popular topics online. People want to lose weight, gain muscle mass, and improve their overall health.

They spend a lot of money on supplements and equipment, and they read blogs from people who offer tips and tricks on how to achieve this goal.

There are often new trends emerging in the fitness space, so you could start a blog on a particular method of exercise like cross-fit.

Alternatively, you might prefer to start a blog that offers dieting advice for athletes in a particular sport.

The Technology Niche

Technology

Sites like Gizmodo, Engadget, and CNET are all highly successful affiliate blogs. While these sites are giants in the tech space that cover anything and everything in their niche, you don’t need to worry that there’s no space left for you to compete.

In fact, if you can specialize in a particular micro-niche, then, in time, it is possible for you to outrank these big sites for some long-tail keywords if Google perceives your site as more relevant to that topic.

Again, there are lots of choices here when it comes to choosing a micro-niche, and new trends are emerging all the time.

The Dating Niche

dating

The dating niche is another space where you can make a lot of money online. There are a ton of online dating sites out there to review, all with affiliate programs.

you can choose to start a blog on a narrow dating topic such as senior dating, or you might want to just offer dating advice to a specific gender.

Alternatively, you can start an online dating site review blog, and provide detailed reviews and information about each of the many platforms out there.

Besides promoting online dating sites, you can also recommend various digital products such as a dating guide, or courses created by relationship experts to help with a particular problem.

The Make Money Online Niche

Man making money on a computer

The make money online space is one of the most profitable niches to be in.

Sub-niches in this category include topics like blogging, affiliate marketing, SEO, social media marketing, video marketing, etc. See there is some crossover with the business and marketing niche here.

Again, there’s a lot of competition in this space, so you’ll need to think carefully about your micro-niche.

Trust is also an important factor in this space as, unfortunately, there are some scammers in this space. So, in order to be successful in this niche, you’ll need to build trust with your audience and be transparent.
