This is a good question, but there is no straightforward answer because there are several ways you can go about creating an NFT.

Don’t worry, I’m going to tell you everything you need to know in this article, and I’m also going to give you some tips on the absolute cheapest way to make an NFT towards the end of this article.

Let’s get to it!

What Is an NFT?

An NFT is a non-fungible token or cryptocurrency that can be used to represent ownership of something in the real world.

One of the most common use cases for an NFT is as a collectible item in video games and other digital worlds. For example, you could buy a virtual sword with Ethereum (ETH) and then sell it on the open market if you want to trade it for another sword.

NFT art is also very common. Beginners can get started quickly by creating a unique piece of artwork using EOS and then selling it on the OpenSea platform, or other NFT marketplaces. However, there is more sophisticated software out there for creating NFTs than EOS.

Businesses and even large corporations are creating their own non-fungible tokens and then selling them to customers. These businesses are building a lot of value into their NFTs in order to entice people to buy.

For example, a company may offer large lifetime discounts on all their products for anyone who owns one of their NFTs. They may also offer their NFT holders free tickets to events, free access to online courses, and inside info on any up-and-coming product launches.

One huge benefit of NFTs to both the creator and the owner is that an NFT can be resold again and again. Each time an NFT is resold, the original creator will receive a royalty fee. This way, the creator can earn passive income for life off of any NFT they create.

The person who has just bought the NFT can also sell the token again in the future whenever they choose. If the value of the NFT has gone up over time, then they will make money on the sale.

What is NFT minting?

NFT minting is the process of creating your token and registering it on the Blockchain. It doesn’t matter if you are creating NFT artwork, or you’re a company creating an incentivized token to sell to your customers. Either way, you will still need to go through the minting process before you sell them.

The actual minting process includes the steps of taking high-resolution images of your artwork, scanning those images into a computer, converting them to digital files, and finally encoding them into a format that is compatible with blockchains like Ethereum.

Once your work is ready, you’ll use tools like MyCrypto, Coinomi, Metamask, and others to store your tokens in a blockchain wallet. This way, you can then trade your NFTs directly from your wallet.

Having said that, the most secure way to store an NFT is by using cold storage, which is essentially a hardware device that you can download your NFT to, so it is no longer connected to the internet. This way, hackers cannot access your NFTs.

When you are ready to sell, you can simply upload your NFT to your MetaMask wallet (or whatever wallet you choose to use), and then transfer it to the buyer once the transaction is complete.

How Much Does it Cost to Make an NFT?

There are several things that affect the cost of making an NFT, and there are also a number of costs you will need to incur.

In particular, what blockchain you decide to use, and the complexity of your image can have a big impact on how much it costs to create an NFT.

If you want a short answer, then the cost to make an NFT is typically between $3 and $80. These costs depend on things like the complexity of your image, no-code tools used, which blockchain you are using, the minting fees, and the fees charged by the marketplace that you use.

What Are The Costs Associated With NFTs?

So, in the process of creating an NFT, there will be a number of costs you’ll need to deal with. Here’s a breakdown of those costs:

NFT Minting Costs Depend on The Blockchain You Use

How much it will cost to make an NFT will largely come down to which blockchain you choose to use. For example, NFTs are typically created using either the Polygon, Solana, or Ethereum blockchain.

Minting NFTs on Polygon

If you’re using OpenSea, the most popular NFT marketplace, then you can use the Polygon blockchain to mint your non-fungible tokens.

OpenSea is free to join, so if you don’t yet have an account, all you need to do is to hook up your crypto wallet (we recommend using MetaMask), and you’re good to go.

One huge benefit of using OpenSea as your NFT marketplace of choice is that you can make and list NFTs for free on their platform using the Polygon blockchain.

The reason why you can make NFTs for free on this platform is that OpenSea uses ‘lazy minting’ as a default, so you will not incur any fees here.

When you sell an NFT on OpenSea, you will pay OpenSea a service fee of 2.5%. OpenSea will deduct their cut from the sale price and then send the rest of the money to your crypto wallet. Transactions are in ETH, so this is how you will be paid.

Minting NFTs on Solana

Even though Ethereum is the most popular blockchain currently used to make NFTs, you can incur high gas fees using Etherium. That’s why a lot of people opt to make NFTs with Solana, which is the second most popular blockchain to use for this purpose.

If you’re using the Solana blockchain to make NFTs, then you need to bear in mind that not all wallets will be compatible. You’ll need to use a wallet like Phantom, Atomic Wallet, or Solong Wallet, for example.

With the Solana blockchain, you can choose from a variety of NFT marketplaces including SolanaArt, SolSea, and Magic Eden.

When you make an NFT on the Solana blockchain the costs are quite low, and basically, revolve around your on-chain activity.

When it comes to minting your NFT on Solana, you will need to pay 3 different transaction fees. 2 of these fees are for minting your NFT, and the third fee is paid when you set the listing price for your NFT.

Minting NFTs on Ethereum

As I previously mentioned, Ethereum is the most popular blockchain to use to make NFTs, but it’s also the most expensive in gas fees.

In the past, it used to be particularly expensive to mint NFTs on Ethereum, but nowadays the prices have come down considerably.

You can choose from a range of NFT marketplaces that use the Ethereum blockchain including OpenSea and Mintable. However, bear in mind that regular minting on Ethereum is very expensive.

Fortunately though, you now also have the lazy minting option with Ethereum, which is essentially free.

This is a great way to get a high-quality NFT made quickly. I’m a big advocator of outsourcing, so if you can afford to pay someone to do a job better and quicker than you can, then it definitely makes sense to do so.

You’ll be surprised at how inexpensive it can be to get a great NFT design made for you on the Fiverr platform.

Typically, it will cost you between $10-$80 to get your NFT made for you by a freelancer on Fiverr. However, prices can increase depending on the complexity of your design.

You can use the popular design platform, Canva, to create your design. Canva has a free plan, although you’ll need to use Canva pro if you want to make NFT designs.

Bear in mind that this is only the design stage were talking about at the moment, so there is no coding at this level, which is usually more expensive.

once you have generated your NFT collection, all that’s left for you to do is to mint your NFTs on a blockchain. This will complete the process of creating your NFTs.

It’s important to know that the cost of NFT minting can vary quite a bit depending on which blockchain you decide to use.

While Ethereum is currently the most popular blockchain for minting NTFs, it’s also the most expensive. This is because you will incur gas fees when minting, and the price you pay for your gas fees will largely depend on network traffic.

A non-fungible token or NFT is a digital asset that has been created on the blockchain. NFTs don’t actually store the items they represent. They’re more like receipts that are stored on a publically viewable database – the blockchain ledger.

In this way, the NFT points to the location where the asset is stored on the internet.

NFTs contain unique information that identifies the owner. Since the NFTs are stored on the blockchain, everyone can see and verify ownership at all times.

Since NFTs verify ownership of a digital asset, the ownership of the said asset is transferred to a new party when an NFT is sold.

It’s kinda like when you sell a car; when you buy or sell a car the logbook representing ownership of the car also needs to be transferred to the new owner. In this way, NFTs are like the car’s logbook.

Since every NFT is 100% unique, it cannot be traded in the same way you can trade cryptocurrency like Bitcoin. This is why NFTs are called non-fungible tokens.

Where Does an NFTs Value Come From?

Some non-fungible tokens can sell for huge amounts of money, while others are worth almost nothing.

So, what gives an NFT value?

Since NFTs are unique digital assets that can’t be copied, they attract people with a ‘collector mentality. Ultimately, it’s the collective interest of would-be purchasers that drives the price.

In reality, something is only as valuable as much as someone is willing to pay for it. But if many people want to be the owner of the item then the price can go up considerably.

However, even this does not mean that any given NFT will be a good investment.

Take the famous Jack Dorsey Twitter NFT for example…

A 2006 tweet by Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, sold for $2.9m in March 2021. The buyer saw value in this NFT since it was the first-ever tweet created on the Twitter platform.

The buyer then tried to resell the NFT on the OpenSea platform for $48m. However, the best offer he received was $6,800 so he lost a huge amount of money on his purchase!

Another way people see value in NFTs is when a talented artist creates a piece of art digitally. In this way, the price of NFTs may vary widely, depending on the artist’s skill level.

The utility of NFTs is another factor determining their value. Proof of ownership is one major component. While anyone can take a picture of an NFT, blockchain technology unequivocally states true ownership publically.

How Can I Buy an NFT?

The majority of trading platforms where you can buy and sell NFTs will require you to use cryptocurrency to make a purchase. However, are a small handful of platforms like OpenSea and MoonPay that will accept credit cards.

To use cryptocurrency to buy NFTs (and to have more choice between trading platforms) you’ll need to set up a cryptocurrency wallet. There are lots to choose from, but some of the most popular crypto wallets include Coinbase, Binance, and MetaMask wallets.

Once your digital wallet is set up, you can begin purchasing cryptocurrency around the market value at the time. If you’re purchasing a popular currency like Bitcoin, then you’ll likely have more flexibility over what you can buy with it later.

While accumulating Bitcoin in your wallet, you can begin looking at NFT trading platforms to see what you want to buy.

At the moment, OpenSea is the biggest NFT marketplace, and it trades in all kinds of assets. For example, you can buy digital art at a cheap price and then make it more unique for reselling. Or, you can find very high-priced items to buy and hold or resell later.

How Can I Showcase My NFTs?

There are a number of ways you can promote an NFT and attract interested buyers. For example, you can share them on social platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and Reddit.

Discord is also another popular platform to join if you want to promote your digital items to a wider audience. Some sellers also go as far as using paid advertising or organizing and hosting events in the Metaverse where they can showcase their artwork.

How Can I Sell an NFT?

Before you can actually sell your NFT, you first need to mint it. The minting process simply means you’ve uniquely published your NFT on the blockchain to make it a purchasable item.

Next, you can list your NFT on a platform like OpenSea and set your asking price. Interested parties can either purchase your NFT via the OpenSea platform or make you an offer for it.

OpenSea allows people to create NFTs for free on their platform, but they’ll take a 2.5% cut of any asset sold on their platform.

How Will I Know if My NFT Sells?

Depending on which platform you’re using to sell an NFT, keep an eye on the sales page for the NFT you’ve listed for sale.

Once you’ve accepted the offer, the funds will be sent to your wallet as cryptocurrency. You can then use the crypto to buy other items, or exchange it for cash.

6 Ways To Make Money With NFTs

There are a few ways you can make money through NFTs. However, at the moment the two most common ways are either to buy and resell an NFT at a profit or learn how to make them yourself and sell your work.

Most commonly, people either look to buy an NFT at a low sale price or sell it later on for a profit.

Renting Out Your NFTs

If you like the idea of passive income, then renting out your NFTs is a great way to go.

Renting NFTs is quite a new concept, but there are already platforms operating like reNFT that enable you to do it.

Basically, you as the lender will determine the rental price and period, while reNFT facilitates the transaction.

Renting NFTs is a great way to earn money on NFTs that are otherwise just laying about not doing much. The rental process allows you to earn money from your NFTs while ensuring you’ll get the asset back once the rental period is over.

In a way, your NFTs become digital real estate that you can leverage to make money from our collection of NFTs without actually selling them.

If you own in-demand NFTs, then this can be one of the most profitable approaches for you to earn consistent income.

NFT Royalties

If you create Nonfungible tokens yourself, you can continue to earn royalties from them after you’ve sold them, each time they change hands. This is a very common approach to making money on NFTs for digital artists.

This is one of my favorite parts about creating NFTs yourself as it means the original creator can continue to earn passive income from their work forever.

In order to do this, the content creator needs to write terms into the blockchain during the minting process. This way the creator will then be able to receive a kickback from all future sales. When you write the terms, you can also decide the amount you should receive on each future transaction.

For example, if you set the terms at 15%, you’ll receive 15% of the resell value directly into your crypto wallet on all future sales.

NFT Yield Farming

 NFT yield farming is a new way to make money with NFTs by staking them for value or tokens to stake NFTs. Basically, thanks to DeFi, you can earn money trading NFTs on the network, kinda like digital trading cards.

NFT Staking

NFT staking is another way people can earn passive income through NFTs. This allows NFT holders to lock in their assets in DeFe (decentralized finance) platforms to earn crypto rewards.

NFT staking is similar to yield farming since it needs a Proof of Stake (PoS) in order to operate in this way. With the PoS in place, NFT holders can be appropriately awarded.

So, why do this?

In a nutshell, once NFT holders have locked up their assets, they can receive awards based on the number of NFTs that have been staked and the annual percentage yield (APY).

Providing liquidity for NFTs is kinda like being an investor. Users that invest in NFTs are referred to as liquidity providers (LP).

If you’re an LP then you can use your liquidity provider tokens to vote and have a say in the decision-making process involved with the NFTs you’re invested in.

Liquidity providers are also known as market makers since they can have a huge influence over the crypto market. Their involvement helps in the process of decentralized trading, and in return, LPs are paid in fees earned from any trades that are made on the platform.

This method appeals to a lot of wealthy investors. Basically, you gotta have a lot of money behind you to be a liquidity provider. But if that’s you then this can be another great passive income stream for you.

Promote NFTs With Affiliate Marketing

Since the emergence of the NFT market many businesses in the space have set up affiliate programs to entice affiliates to promote their products.

Let’s take the finance niche as an example again.

So, if you wanted to start a finance blog and decide to cover anything and everything related to finance then you’re gonna get lost in the crowd. It’s a highly competitive space with a number of big players in the game like NerdWallet, ThePennyHoarder, and TheMotleyFool, to name just a few.

Going head-to-head with these guys just won’t be possible, unless you’ve got a huge budget behind you. And even then, as a new blog, you’ve still got a lot of catching up to do.

So, the answer for you to be able to compete and still get traffic is to drill down as much as possible on a micro-niche. This way your blog can become super-relevant for your ultra-specific category.

And when it comes to ranking in search engines, relevance plays a big part.

There may be bigger sites in your niche that are more authoritative than you, but if Google perceives your site to be more relevant for a specific topic, then they’ll give you enough credit to outrank the big guys for your key terms.

Amazon has a huge database of products and actually has its own search engine. You can go to the Amazon marketplace and dig through the categories they have listed.

I also recommend checking which products are selling best on Amazon to give you an idea of the niche that has a hungry buying audience. This is a great way to tell if there’s money to be made in a niche.

Check The Big Sites

If you know the top-level niche you’d like to work in but you’re struggling to find your sub niche, take a look at some of the big sites in your market.

The big players usually cover multiple sub niches, and an easy way to identify them is to look at the categories they cover. Often, each of the categories is sub niches by themselves, some of which can be highly lucrative.

So, it might be worth your while to build a new niche site around just one of the categories covered on one of these monster blogs.

Check Affiliate Marketplaces

There are lots of affiliate marketplaces out there such as ClickBank, Commission Junction, ShareASale, and FlexOffers, to name just a few. Each of these platforms has a huge database of affiliate products organized by category.

Just one of these categories can be a gold mine for you, and it’s a great way to look for affiliate programs you can promote on your blog at the same time!

How To Start a Micro Niche Blog

The first step to starting a micro niche blog is to choose a niche. You can broaden your niche later as long as you haven’t restricted yourself too much by the domain name you have chosen.

The next step is to do extensive keyword research and plan out your content strategy. You can use a tool like ahrefs.com to analyze the competitors in your space, and download lists of keywords they are ranking for.

Then, organize your keywords into relevant article topic ideas. Make a list of at least 50 blog posts you plan to write and assign the relevant keywords to each post so you know ahead of time exactly what you’re going to write about.

Additionally, bloggers use writing tools to make sure they complete their content on time. In this situation, a paragraph writer helps come up with ideas and makes writing easier, making it faster to create content.

Then, organize each of these first 50 articles into the various sub-categories that you plan to cover on your blog. When it comes to writing, start with just one sub-category first (also known as a hub), and publish all those articles first before moving on to the articles in the next sub-category.

Wait. I’m getting ahead of myself.

Before you begin writing, after you have done your keyword research and planned your content, you need to choose a domain name.
